The methods used

The specific method used will vary depending on the type of cladding you have, over 60% of our cladding restoration jobs under go a 3 stage process for the cladding restoration. Typically, the 3 stage process is applied to the restoration of aluminium and stainless steel panels, and will involve an initial deep clean with a unique cleaning gel that removes dirt that may have engrained into the cladding panels over the years. After the deep clean is completed we will then apply a restoration wax which will restore the cladding back to its former glory. The third process is a neutraliser and protector for the cladding, which will bring up the colour and texture in the cladding panel as well protecting and ensuring it stays looking like new for longer.

Some of our works include 5 Broadgate in London; the new headquarters for UBS. This work was carried out for the main sub contractor upon completion of the project. The pattern on the cladding which can only be seeing up close made these type of panelsparticularly challenging to clean on a builders clean. There were actually 3 previous contractors that attempted to clean the cladding but failed which is when Spectrum were called in to complete the project under very tight time frames.

Rust removal

The most common issue with rust on cladding panels have been found to be caused during the construction period where iron deposits from works above fall onto the cladding panels, causing the metals to react and small spots of rust appear. Whatever rust issue you may have incurred on your building, we have the knowledge and experience to tackle even the most severe scenarios with having helped restore various different buildings in London that had rust staining.

Using the appropriate Chemicals for Rust

Ensuring the correct chemical is used for the cleaning, these rust mars can be removed, Spectrum have carried out various site experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of different products. It is important that an understanding of the what is in the chemical being use as to not cause further damage to the cladding panels.

Ensuring the product does not run of onto other parts of the building is also critical that may react differently to the product depending on the surface material running the risk of causing damage. This also applies to the gaskets in window frames, which may void the warranty of the unit if affected. Marble and granite cladding restoration

If your building has faded, dull looking marble and granite on its facade, Spectrum can restore your stone façade back to its former glory with marble and granite stone polishing. Using the best specialist products, and methods of applying the products we will ensure that your building looks like brand new. We are equipped to tackle your marble stone polishing no matter how difficult it may be to each, we are equipped to restore your marble and granite either by cradle, bmu, rope access, or MEWP, or scaffolding.

The methods used for optimum results

The marble and granite cladding restoration involves a 2 stage process. We gently apply a specialist stone restoration product easing the product in gently at less than 200rpm ensuring the product is slowly applied, ensuring optimum results without swirl marks. The process will bring back the shine in your marble or granite and after the excess product is removed we begin our 2nd stage process. The 2nd stage process in the marble and granite cleaning / restoration process involves a applying a 2nd stone cleaning product, bringing back even more shine to the stone and protecting it, ensuring your stone façade stays looking like new for longer.

Wooden Cladding restoration

Wooden cladding restoration should be a delicate process, which is why we strongly advise against not using pressure washers which can cause the surface of the wood to split, and forcing more water into the panels. The most common cause of the discolouring in the wooden panels is algae, the wooden cladding panels may look darker in colour due to the black algae, black algae is the last process in the algae development process and when found this tells the cleaning contractor that the algae has been there for some time.

The methods use for optimum results

Rather then using pressure washers, the use of a soft wash system with an appropriate mixture of biocide is far more affective and is also a gentle cleaning process that leaves the surface of the wooden panels undamaged. Having the experience and knowledge is vital to ensure the best results and also ensuring the surroundings are protected not affected by the treatment.

Protecting my wooden cladding

As well as cleaning and restoring your wooden cladding, you may wish to apply a layer of varnish to change the look and feel of the wooden cladding as well as protect the panels and extend the life of the panels.
